City Seal Agreement on Manchester United Duo

The first activity of the close season saw City announce that they had reached an agreement with Manchester United that would bring Ritchie De Laet and Matty James to the KPS…

Nigel Pearson told the official LCFC website:  “Ritchie and Matthew are both players we have been monitoring for some time and we are very pleased to be able to bring them both to the Club. Both are hungry, young players with winning mentalities, experience of Championship football and a desire to be successful. They will add considerable quality to the squad.”

This certainly seems like an encouraging start to the summer transfer activity bringing in two young, well-schooled players…

Antwerp-born Da Laet is a primarily left-sided defender, who has already pulled on a number of different club shirts. Although he is only 23 he has turned out for Royal Antwerp, Stoke City and Manchester United; also making loan appearances for Wrexham, Sheffield United, Preston, Portsmouth and Norwich. He has also played for the Belgian national side twice.
Being from Belgium, with that hairstyle, may we be the first to give him the nickname TinTin.

Lancashire-born Matty James is a midfielder who was a regular in United’s reserves, but only made one, non-playing, appearance on the first team bench. He has, however, made 28 appearances for Preston during two loan spells.
