The Main Stand’s Farewell

This set of images were taken on 1st May 1993, when Leicester met Bristol City. It was the last game for the old Main Stand at Filbert Street .
Built in 1921, the Main Stand served the club for 72 years… its successor, the Carling Stand, did not see its tenth birthday.
The bulldozers and demolition balls moved in straight after this 0-0 draw, and City’s ‘home’ play-off semi-final had to be played at the City Ground, Nottingham.
