City ended a long-running saga today, finally signing Brighton’s Argentinian striker Leonardo Ulloa for a club-record £8m on a four-year contract.
The 28-year-old, who scored 16 goals for the Seagulls last season, could end up costing City up to £10m with various add-ons to the deal.
That would almost double the club’s previous record outlay of £5.5m spent by Peter Taylor on Ade Akinbiyi way back in the summer of 2000.
Next season’s No 23 for City will join up with Nigel Pearson’s squad for the imminent visit to Thailand and could feature in Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Everton at Bangkok’s Supachalasai Stadium.
