Leicester rock Blackpool after going behind

Leicester City 3:1 Blackpool

1314 blackpool home

Although City went behind against Blackpool a rousing second half comeback ensured a 3-1 victory which sees them 17 points clear of third place…

An unchanged City side took the game to the visitors in the usual fashion, but suffered a frustrating second half.
James had an effort blocked, while Knockaert and Nugent both narrowly missed the target.
Vardy then had a goal chalked off for offside, and then found the side-netting with many supporters thinking the ball was in the net.
Incredibly, given the run of play, it was the other goal that was breached in the 41st minute.
Robinson long throw-in from the left found its way through to Goodwillie well placed to prod the ball home from 5 yards.

City pressed forward again right from the start of the second half, but were almost caught out again by a speculative Goodwillie effort.
The breakthrough finally came on the hour with a moment of magic from Mahrez. Collecting theball out on the right he cleverly cut in before arrowing a deadly left footer past Gilks.
Gilks then saved well from a Nugent header, before Taylor-Fletcher – on for Vardy – sent his effort inches wide.
City took the lead in the 82nd minute with more Mahrez magic. Tight to the touchline on the left he lofted a cross for Morgan to head home at the far post – the City skipper’s first goal of the season.
Three minutes later City hit a third when substitute Phillips gathered a loose ball before neatly firing it into the roof of the net.

On a day when the run of the ball, and more than a few refereeing decisions had gone against City, they had simply kept at it and their quality told in the end.
Another stride towards promotion… in front of a large crowd.
