City lost their place at the top of the Championship after a 3-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday…

Nigel Pearson made two changes to his side for this trip to the South Coast, with King and Hammond in for James and Knockaert, but hopes of bouncing back from the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday were soon dealt a blow.
City had the first chance, when Drinkwater had  a low shot well saved by Brezovan, but it was the Seagulls who took a 9th minute lead.
A Schmeichel kick went straight to a blue and white shirt and Lopez hared down the right before delivering a perfect cross for Barnes to find the net at the far post.
City attempted to create some pressure and Dyer went close, almost catching Brezovan out at the near post, but City went further behind in the 28th minute.
Lopez was the provider again, this time finding Conway with his cross, and City already looked to be facing a mountainous task.

Knoackaert replaced Hammond for the second half and it looked to be an improvement for a while.
As the game turned physical and a few yellow cards were flashed about, City eventually struck back in the 64th minute. King finished off a Knockaert free-kick with a delightful diving header and City, with Wood and Taylor-Fletcher on for Dyer and Nugent were now doing all the attacking.
Taylor-Fletcher saw his header palmed over the bar by Brezovan, before King went close with another effort.
But as City desperately tried to make it 2-2, it was suddenly 3-1 and game over.
In the 77th minute Morgan fouled Barnes in the area and he picked himself up and planted his spot-kick straight down the middle.
Although Drinkwater and Vardy both had chances, Brezovan was equal to them, and City had been beaten for the second time in five days.

A huge week looms with Burnley, Manchester City and QPR coming along in quick succession so City need to recover quickly…
