Leicester battle to victory in the Wild West

Yeovil 1:2 Leicester City

1314 yeovil away

City’s great run of results continued with a 2-1 win at a wet and windy Huish Park on Tuesday night…

Nigel Pearson stuck with his side for a fifth League game on the trot and eventually it paid off.
However the 1,500 City followers, most of them on the uncovered terrace, endured a frustrating first half.
Although it was Yeovil who had the first chance when Upson was nicely set up by Williams but blazed wide from close in; there followed a series of City misses, with the ball sailing into the home end time and again.
Moore,  Dyer, Vardy and King were all off-target with their chances, while Upson went close for the home side.
Just before the break Knockaert made some room for a shot but fired straight at the large figure of Hennessey in the Glovers’ goal.

City, unchanged for the second half, didn’t have long to wait for the breakthrough.
Hitting Yeovil with a swift breakaway in the 54th minute, Nugent fed a ball in for the left that the onrushing Dyer crashed past Hennessey.
Nine minutes later they doubled their lead with yet another penalty after Seabourne brought De Laet down in the area.
Nugent crashed home his seventh goal (and sixth penalty) of the season to put City in a commanding lead.
However, the similarities with Saturday’s game against Barnsley continued when Yeovil pulled a goal back in the 84th minute for a nervy ending to the game. Another penalty was awarded when Moore brought Hayter down with City’s back line looking a bit stretched, and Hayter himself converted from 12 yards.
In the pouring rain City managed to blunt any revival from the home side, and hung on for three precious points, joining Burnley and QPR on 23 at the top of the table.
