Leicester Lapses Hand Wolves Three Points

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2:1 Leicester City

City have now gone three away games without a point after two defensive lapses led to Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Molineux…

City, with De Laet in for St Ledger, enjoyed a decent start to the game with their passing game beginning to take shape.
But they found themsleves a goal down in the 13th minute when Konchesky failed to pick up Ebanks-Blake at a Sako free-kick and he had a simple nod past Schmeichel to put the home side ahead.
Six minutes later Schmeichel  did brilliantly well to tip away a  Doyle curler at full stretch after Moore had lost possession. But it was only a temporary repreive with  the resulting Sako corner finding Stearman completely unmarked eight yards out. The former City man fired home via a Schmeichel touch and the crossbar to leave Nigel Pearson despairing on the touchline.
City kept plugging away, although they lost King on the half hour, and the pink-booted Marshall forced a fine save from Ikeme; while Nugent fired a decent chance over the bar.
Nigel Pearson brought Knockeart on for Dyer for the second half as City pressed forward trying to salvage something from the wreckage.
Ikeme was fortunate to block with his feet after Vardy got his head to a Marshall cross.
City finally made a breakthrough with 20 minutes remaining – Drinkwater sending a crossfield pass to Konchesky, who took a touch before rocketing home a sensational 35 yarder.
Inspired by Knockeart, City chased an equaliser, but Nugent headed agonisingly wide and substitute Waghorn fired against the post when through on the keeper.
Another decent performance had proved pointless because of those two defensive lapses.
With his two predecessors being axed in October, Wednesday night’s game against Burnley will be a huge one for Nigel Pearson…
