City Bid for Everton Striker rejected

Everton have turned down a bid from Leicester City for Jermaine Beckford.

City put in a bid of £2.5M for the 27 year old Beckford, who signed for the Toffees from Leeds on a free transfer last summer, but it has been rejected by the Goodison Park club.

City have struggled to bring in a goalscorer and only this week Reading’s Shane Long and Spurs’ Robbie Keane have both opted to move elsewhere.

It remains to be seen whether City will raise their bid, though Everton are currently short of fire-power themselves.

If we get Beckford, it’ll be awesome… There are also rumours of us being able to afford the Yak too?!?! I doubt the Toffees will sell both of them to us but if they did what a promotion campaign it will be….
    Cmon City!

the beckford bid smacks of desperation to me. why would he come to us? it’s a step down from everton, so he’d only be joining for the cash if he came… i’d prefer us to get somebody in with a bit of quality, hunger and a desire to prove themselves…
