Six Irons in the Fire

This could be a big week for City as Sven Goran Eriksson awaits the outcome of (at least) six possible additions to his squad…

Sven held talks with Peterborough’s star striker Craig Mackail-Smith last week, City having a £3 million bid accepted by Posh. The 27 year old is now weighing up his options, with West Ham and QPR also eager to sign him.
City are also keen to land Reading skipper Matt Mills, with some reports claiming that the Berkshire club had accepted a £4M offer from City, which would underline Sven’s claim that he has a ‘limitless budget’ thanks to the Raksriaksorns.
Preston North End have accepted a bid of around £1.2M for central-defender Sean St Ledger, while City are still thought to be pursuing Portsmouth’s leading scorer of last season David Nugent.
Last week is was also reported that City had bid £1.7 million, for Huddersfield midfielder Nathan Pilkington, while interest remains in Bristol City’s prolific striker Nicky Maynard, though they are desperate to keep him at Ashton Gate.

Watch this space – it should be an interesting week…
