The 34-year old, who was recently released by Real Betis, has signed a deal keeping him at the Walkers Stadium until the end of the season.
Ricardo will be a familiar face to England fans, having helped knock us out of two tournaments.
In Portugal in 2004 he saved a penalty from now City team mate Darius Vassell and then converted his own spot-kick to send Sven’s England home.
He also made three saves in the penalty shoot-out in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
As the old saying goes, better to have him inside the tent…
Sven Goran Eriksson has also signed striker Danny Uchechi on loan from Nigerian side FC Dender until the end of the season.
