According to the Sun newspaper Thai multi-millionaire Vichai Raksriaksorn, head of King Power Group duty free business, has agreed a deal for a 50% stake (some sources quote a 49% stake) in Leicester City, with a view to taking full control within the next year.
The deal, which is valued at £39M, will see King Power as the main shirt sponsor…
The 51 year old Raksriaksorn, who is said to be worth some $180M, is a keen Polo player and a leading figure in the sport in Thailand. No details have yet emerged about other members of what is thought to be a seven or eight man consortium.
“…More than a mere duty free shop, King Power is a grand sanctuary built with scale and vision balanced by an airy atmosphere and tranquil setting, placing it alongside Thailand’s famous temple and palace landmarks as another jewel in the crown of this capital city. Escape the hustle and heat of Bangkok’s streets in this shopping resort. Relax and enrich yourself in the lustrous surrounds of this luminous steel and gleaming glass oasis…”
