Although Nigel Pearson has been listed among the bookies favourites to take the Middlesbrough manager’s post left vacant after Gareth Southgate’s sacking on Tuesday night, Milan Mandaric does not expect his manager to be departing for the Riverside.
“I wouldn’t put my money on Nigel going to Middlesbrough,” Mandaric told the Mercury. “He is as solid as a rock and he is here to stay.
He is happy with the club and with everyone here. We are happy with him and it is a good relationship.”
Mandaric also revealed that Pearson and City are in negotiations regarding a new contract, the former Boro player is currently half way through a three year deal.
The outstanding favourite for the Boro job is Gordon Strachan, although any potential candidate might stop and think when the previous incumbent was sacked after a victory with his side one point behind the league leaders, having drastically cut the wage bill…
