After yesterday’s enjoyable crowing over Derby we come to earth with a bump, remembering the 19th Anniversary of one of the most remarkable games in Leicester City’s history…
Leicester v Swindon 1993 Play-Off Final…
Under Brian Little things had greatly improved… we still had bad days of course, like the 5-1 at Cambridge, but you knew that it would be put right and we’d still be heading the right direction.
So the only time I was genuinely turned inside out during his time was that remarkable Play Off Final against Swindon. Never was the Leicester City Rollercoaster so violently given to soaring and dipping.
3-0 down and national disgrace became 3-3 and manic, shouting celebrations among the 40,000 City fans.
Then the rug was pulled away from under our feet again and we crashed to the ground. Steve White’s dive was even more painfully obvious than David Speedie’s the year before.
I physically, and in a very real sense, lost the power of speech for several days.
